Rafter 6 Outdoor Adventures is a family run business dedicated to the personal touch. We conduct Chuckwagon Dinner Rides and Overnight Cowboy Camp-Outs, riding through some of Central Arizona's most scenic back country. Hourly trail rides are also available. Our Adventures take place on the beautiful Cross U Ranch, 30 miles north of Prescott, Arizona. The Cross U Ranch is an historic working cow ranch, operating in the age old Arizona tradition. Elevations vary from 4500 to 5500 feet, creating daytime summer temperatures from the low 80s to the mid 90s with cool, starry nights. Rafter 6 is devoted to preserving the Old West and its many traditions, and we share the cowboy culture in our camps, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the round-up wagon camps of days gone by. The camps are set around our 100 year old Chuck Wagon and all meals are cooked in Dutch ovens and over Oak coals. Range Teepees and Wall tents are your sleeping quarters and cots are provided. Our Chuck Wagon Dinner Rides offer a small taste of the West, beginning with a 2, 4, or 6 hour trail ride, and commencing with an authentic Chuckwagon cooked Steak Dinner, complete with Cowboy Beans, Dutch Oven Buttermilk Biscuits and Dutch Oven Cobbler. We finish the evening with a song or poem and send you back to town, sore but satisfied! The Overnight Cowboy Camp-Out can be arranged for 1 to 4 days, with an itinerary that meets your specific desires. Your days can be spent either riding the back country, looking for wildlife, (deer and elk are plentiful) or we can join the Cross U cowboys and actually work cattle. The nights are spent around the Chuck Wagon and campfire where western stories and songs are enjoyed. Our hourly trail rides are guided rides that take place on private ranchland. We recommend the 2 hour ride for viewing the Indian Ruins and quite often a resident herd of antelope. Rafter 6 furnishes very gentle horses and Grand Canyon mules , that will take you through this mountainous country with ease. We outfit you with comfortable saddles and quality tack to ensure your safety and comfort. We now accept: Rafter 6 requires a deposit of half the estimated total to reserve the date requested. The balance is due on the day of your ride. Your deposit is non-refundable, however it may be used toward a future date for any of the Programs we offer. Rafter 6 requires all riders to sign and understand a Horse Rental Agreement and Liability Release Form, to be signed and returned with reservation packet.
